A Bunch Of Young Professionals Choose To Make A Difference In The Lives Of 27000 Children This #Children’sDay

According to some statistics by Annual Status of Education Report (ASER), In 2008, 50% of Standard 3 students could not read a Standard 1 textbook and by 2012, it rose to 70%. Even worse, about 50% students in Standard 3 couldn’t recognize digits from 1 to 100, forget about addition and subtraction. By this, we clearly understand that the quality of education in India, especially in primary schools, is falling every day.

Thanks to a group of young and dynamic professionals who is trying to change this through their initiative, ConnectEd. They will help schools impart education through ‘Smart Classroom’ Systems. The system will help deliver a quality education which was otherwise difficult for teaching using the conventional methods.

The project will be executed with the help of Education Ministry of Maharashtra, local authorities in Palghar Taluka and some socially responsible corporates and will cover students from 5th to 10th standard. The content is designed as per the state board curriculum and is focused on rural students. The hardware is also designed in a way to suit the village environment and infrastructure. In fact, the entire program is built to suit rural markets.

“A lot has been done to increase student enrollment in rural areas and these efforts have been successful. However, this has increased the burden on teachers and infrastructure. We at ConnectEd believe that private players like us can play a big role in aiding the Government in easing this burden on the schooling system. We are thankful to the Education Ministry of Maharashtra, JSW Steel and DHFL for seeing merit in our product and supporting its implementation in Palghar. We soon plan to take this solution to other areas of the state and the country as well, enabling underprivileged youth all across to contribute to the India growth story,” says Lehar Tawde, co-founder, ConnectEd.

ConnectEd Team launched this initiative on 14 November 2015 and will cover Palghar Taluka in Maharashtra in the first phase. Around 27,000 students will be benefitted in the first year. They have plans to impact lives of 81,000 children by 2017 and 500,000 children by 2020 across Maharashtra.

We wish you all the very best for this wonderful initiative. Kudos Team ConnectEd. :)
