7 Things You Should Know About The Discovery Of Water On Mars

The discovery of water on mars is perhaps another step towards the existence of life on the red planet. It is indeed a great milestone achieved by NASA. Scientists are continuously trying to explore great things and putting efforts to find sustainability of life on other planets.

Here are a few things that you should know about the discovery and what this means for scientists and the human race.

1. Around 4 billion years ago, Mars had flowing water and dense atmosphere but Mars lost its atmosphere and became a dry planet.

4. The 2002 Mars Odyssey Mission by NASA discovered signs of hydrogen (in the form of water) around the south pole of Mars. This was a hypothesis in 2002, but it was confirmed, 5 years later, during Mars Phoenix Mission that water exists in the form of ice after they found huge deposits of ice near the south pole.

5. The discovery of liquid water can have significant benefits to the mankind – it will make the Mars mission easier and cheaper and a possibility of life. As the life on the earth is associated with water. It doesn’t mean that life exists on Mars, but it also increases the possibility of life on the red planet.
