In a brand new initiative from the Modi government, BSNL and Union Minister for Communications Ravi Shankar Prasad have launched free Wi-Fi at the historic monument of love, the Taj Mahal.
The free Wi-Fi service will be available to all tourists visiting Taj Mahal for 30 minutes, after which they can remain logged on for rupees 30 per hour. Prasad said while the bandwidth is being provided by state-run BSNL, the system integrator. Quadgen, a Bengaluru-based company, is providing the wireless back-up. This step was taken after visitors complained about lack of wifi at Taj Mahal.
Currently, Wi-Fi internet facility is currently available only at the Agra Cantonment railway station.The BSNL plans to extend the facility to Fatehpur Sikri as well if its plan in Taj Mahal succeeds.
