In the Indian society, women play a very important role. One one hand we worship them as a goddess and a mother, on the other hand, we rape them, we kill them in the womb, we don’t allow them to go to school, we suppress their fundamental rights etc.
This state of affairs always keeps me wondering if we are moving on a right track. In fact, in PM Modi’s recent visit to the Silicon valley and his address at the Facebook office, in particular, he mentioned that the growth of our country is not possible without the active involvement of women. It’s not that steps are not being taken towards women empowerment, but the plight of women in India still continues to be in a bad shape in the majority of the cities and states.
Recently, a Mumbai-based artist Kanika Kaul conceptualized a series of Posters which mocks at the idea of a perfect Indian woman.
1. Obtain Lots Of Dowry
No man wants a wife who comes home empty handed. Ask your dad to lighten his pockets, considerably. Don’t stop just at 72 inches LED TV. How will your husband go to work where he will ignore you for hours? A spanking new car will only enhance your position in the new home.
2. Stay At Home
Why do you need to be exposed to the world outside when your husband will make all your decisions for you? You will unnecessarily become open-minded, and no one likes a woman who is smart and experienced, am I right?
3. Say No To Jeans
Our traditions stipulate that women look their sexist in a saree, preferably on a big screen, standing under a waterfall.
4. Embrace Violence
The bruises are consequences of your own doing. Ladies, stop blaming other people for what they do to you.
