Retired Engineer Bought A Plane To Provide An In-flight Experience To The Poor

I think there is nothing better in life than bringing a smile on someone’s face. At least, that’s what 58-year-old retired aircraft engineer Bahadur Chand Gupta believes in.

In this quest, Mr. Gupta sold his land bought a decommissioned plane in 2003 for Rs 6 Lakhs to provide an in-flight experience to people who otherwise would never be able to afford such luxuries of life. He charges a minimal or no fees at all from people and in return offers a complete aircraft experience including collection of boarding passes, safety briefings, distribution of toffees, sweets etc.

What motivated him?

In 1980, when he joined as an aircraft engineer and a lot of people from his village in Haryana wanted to see the plane. So, one day he took one of his fellow village residents to the airport to show the aircraft. He told the gentlemen to be quiet, but he spoke and as a result Gupta was caught.

That’s when he realized how difficult it is for a poor to see the aircraft. So, he thought of having something outside of the airport to show to people who may never be able to afford it.
