10 Key Takeaways From PM Modi’s Silicon Valley Visit

PM Modi was once again at his oratorical best during his visit to the technology centre of the world. Modi’s ‘Digital India’ vision has become a talking point in the Silicon valley. It clearly shows the willingness of Top CEOs of tech companies to support his vision. The people of the largest IT companies who played a key role in transforming the world, now endorse Digital India campaign and also described it as a vision which will bring India at par with the developed world.

PM Modi’s speeches were full of enthusiasm and marked with a strong desire to change India. Here are some key points of his meetings with leaders of Tech giants, interaction with the community that gives us an array of hope for a better India.

1. Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, appreciated Apple’s old ties with India and said “Steve Jobs visited India for his inspiration.”  Modi also expressed his wish to the CEO to set up a manufacturing unit in India.

2. Elon Musk, CEO Tesla Motors, gave PM Modi a tour to Tesla’s factory and showed battery operated cars and some remarkable innovations that they are doing in their line of products.

3. In a breakthrough meeting at Google HQ, Sundar Pichai announced a proposal for the introduction of broadband connectivity through WiFi hotspots at 100 stations and plans to extend this facility to 500 stations. He also stated that they are passionate about bringing technology to the people.

4. Satya Nadella, CEO Microsoft, welcomed PM Modi’s vision of Digital India and said that it has come at the right time. He also expressed his plans to take technology to 500,000 villages in India.

5. Qualcomm CEO Paul Jacobs embraced PM’s vision and mentioned that India under Modi’s leadership is moving in the right direction. Qualcomm has planned to invest up to $150 million to fund startups in India.

8. Mark Zuckerberg, CEO facebook, said that India is very important in the history of facebook. He considers India as a temple of knowledge from where he took inspiration to rebuild facebook. People at facebook HQ were all dressed in formals for a change for the town hall event.

9. He addressed Indian Diaspora at SAP Centre. Nearly 18000 people attended the event out of the total 45000 applications received. We must reverse brain drain to ‘brain gain’, he said addressing the community. Among others, Indian singer Kailash Kher also performed at the event.
