A person could be called lucky or unlucky to have died on the day of his birth. Any person’s possibility to die on his birthday is one in 365 days or 0.27%.
Whatever the case maybe, it’s a very tough job for a person to leave the world on the day of their birth. But some people have achieved it. Here are some famous personalities who died on their birthdays.
1. Bidhan Chandra Roy (1 July 1882 – 1 July 1962) Profession: Chief Minister of West Bengal
He remained as the chief minister on West Bengal until his death. He was in office for 14 years as a Congress candidate. He was also regarded as a great physician and a freedom fighter. National Doctor’s Day is also celebrated on the same day.
2. Pompey The Great (29 September 106 BC – 29 September 48 BC) Profession: Roman General
He was a military and political leader of the late Roman Empire. He was the main leader who led the Sulla’s second civil war and after its success he was nicknamed Magnus ‘The Great’.
3. Ahmad Zahir (14 June 1946 – 14 June 1979) Profession: Afghan Singer
He is still known regarded as ‘The King of Afghan Music’ and often referred as Afghan Elvis Presley because he performed rock and pop music in the similar style as Elvis Presley. He was a singer, songwriter and a music composer. He attended his higher education in India and got the degree of English Instructor.
4. Franklin D. Roosevelt Jr. (August 17, 1914 – August 17, 1988) Profession: American Lawer, Politician & Businessman
He was the fifth son of 32nd American President Franklin D. Roosevelt. He was awarded silver star, bronze star and a lot of other awards for his service in Navy during the second world war.
She was an American theatre and television actress best known for her role as Ms. Hawkins in Matlock. She also authored a book called In a Sunny Climate. She acted in a number of TV series in the 70s and 80s.
6. Humbert Wolfe (5 January 1885 – 5 January 1940) Profession: British Poet
His poetic verses have been used by a number of music composers including Gustav Holst. The Uncelestial City remains his highest read works today which is very popular and often quoted.
7. Tatiana Samoilova (4 May 1934 – 4 May 2014) Profession: Soviet and Russian Actress
Tatiana is best known for her role in The Cranes Are Flying for which she also received a number of awards and a special mention at Cannes Film Festival.In 2007, 7 years before her death she received lifetime achievement award at Moscow Film Festival. In 1993, she was named a People’s Artist of Russia which is one of the highest honours of the state.
8. Flor Peeters (4 July 1903 – 4 July 1986) Profession: Belgian Organist
He was a composer, organist and a teacher. Even today, his technical perfection continue to attract listeners. During the 1930s he composed Toccata, fuga en hymn op “Ave maris stella,” which later went on to become exceptional artistic achievement for him.
9. Filinto Müller (11 July 1900 – 11 July 1973) Profession: Brazilian Politician
He was the President of the senate for the state of Mato Grosso, which is the third largest state by area in Brazil. During world war 2, he was one of the architects of the vast repressive system which is used for large-scale torture.
10. Yasujiro Ozu (12 December 1903 – 12 December 1963) Profession: Japenese Film Director
He started his career in filmmaking during the era of silent films. He was voted as the tenth greatest directors of all time in 2002 by British Film Institute’s Sound & Sight Poll of critics. Some of his greatest works include Late Spring (1949), Early Summer (1951), Tokyo Story (1953) etc.
11. Raphael (6 April 1483 – 6 April 1520) Profession: Italian Painter
He is known for his works primarily because of clarity of form and easy composition. His paintings could still be found in Vatican Palace. Most of his works were created by him from his workshop. It is believed that excessive sex was the reason for his death.
12. María Félix (8 April 1914 – 8 April 2002) Profession: Mexican Actress
She was regarded as the most important female personality in Mexican Cinema. She was nicknamed La Doña after she appeared in the movie Doña Bárbara (1943).
