The entire India condemned the brutal killing of Mohammad Akhlaq last week by a mob. Despite the tragedy that happened, the son of the victim, Corporal Mohammad Sartaj (working in the Indian Air Force) still says “Sare Jahan Se Acha Hindustan Hamara, Mazhab Nahi Sikhata Aapas Mein Bair Rakhna.”
He said this in an interview with NDTV journalist Barkha Dutt. His brother who was also allegedly beaten up during that fateful night continues to fight for his life. He still believes in our judicial system and requested the people not to communalize issues like these. He also said that the entire nation is not to be blamed for the wrongdoings of a few people.
We salute people like Mohammad Sartaj who kept the spirit of humanity and tolerance alive in this country.
