Amid rising pollution levels in Delhi and elsewhere, this topic is worth talking about. Though the situation has improved for India in the last couple of years. According to a survey by Ministry of health and family welfare show that life expectancy in India has gone up by five years, from 62.3 years for males and 63.9 years for females in 2001-2005 to 67.3 years and 69.6 years respectively in 2011-2015. But despite this improvement, it is still below the world’s average life expectancy at birth, 71.0 years, over the period of 2012-2013 according to United Nations.
In fact, our Asian neighbours including China, Nepal, Bhutan, Malaysia & Srilanka are ahead of us. The figures below also take into consideration the current health care system, other factors like wars, obesity and HIV infections etc. Now, let’s take a look at life expectancy for different countries.
