A Gymnast Without Legs, Read Jennifer Bricker’s Inspiring Story

“Can’t word is not a part of your vocabulary.” That’s what 28-year-old Jennifer Bricker, an acrobat and a gymnast, believes. Despite the fact that she was born without legs her parents, who adopted her at birth, didn’t let her feel that she is a different or a special child. They raised her the very same way they raised their 3 other children, without any limitation and one simple rule – Never say ‘Can’t’.

Jennifer always wanted to be a tumbler and a gymnast. She grew up idolizing Dominique Moceanu, the youngest player in 1996 Olympic winning US Women’s Gymnastics team and always wanted to be like her. But it was not easy for a person like her who has no legs, become to a gymnast.

She started tumbling at the age of 7 on a trampoline with her father. And as they say, where there is a will, there is a way. In no time, she was competing with the top gymnasts and by high school Jennifer was a tumbling champion of the state of Illinois, US. How cool is that!

From a very early age, Jennifer found a lot of similarities between her and Dominique Moceanu. ‘I always had such a connection to her, immediately. I saw myself in her, she was small and I was small. I knew she was Romanian, I was Romanian.’ she said. One day out of curiosity she asked her parents, Sharon and Gerald Bricker, if there’s anything they know about their biological family. That’s when her mother revealed that that Dominique, who she was idolizing, was her real sister. That was an important realization of Jennifer’s life.
