But there is a saying that “Kanoon Ke Hath Bahut Lambe Hote Hein” which means that where ever you go you will definitely get caught. Some got caught, but some are still on the run. These master thieves have carved themselves their own little exclusive corner in the thieving world.

1. Mithilesh Kumar Srivastava A.K.A Natwarlal
Mithilesh Kumar Srivastava, better known as Natwarlal, born in Siwan District in Bihar was a noted Indian con man known for having repeatedly “sold” the Taj Mahal, the Red Fort, and the Rashtrapati Bhavan and also the Parliament House of India along with its 545 sitting members. He duped hundreds of people of crores of rupees and used more than 50 aliases to disguise himself.
2. Devender Singh – Bunty Chor
He has also been the subject of the movie “Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye.” Bunty chor was a master escape artist as he would easily run away with people’s belongings. With over 500 robberies, his crimes were put an end when he was arrested by Police.
3. The Chelembra Bank Robbery
Usually, the movies are inspired by real lives. But in this case, it was the opposite. They robbed a bank with 80 Kgs of gold and 5 Lakh in cash. But the best part is how they did it. The four-member gang rented a restaurant below the2nd-floor bank and shut it down claiming they were undergoing a renovation. Meanwhile, they dug into the main vault from underneath and made off with their loot. They later confessed that their crime was inspired by Dhoom Movie.
4. Gohana Bank Robbery
In 2014, a group of men dug a 84 ft. long tunnel to the strong room to the bank. They crawled out of the 84-ft tunnel with jewelry worth crores, cash stuffed in pockets, to freedom and a new life.But, they were soon caught and put behind the bars.
5. Opera House Heist
The opera house heist is an inspiration behind the movie Special 26. The perpetrators behind this crime never got caught. They ran with a whopping amount of 37 Lakhs in 1987.
6. Rustom Nagarwala (1971 Nagarwala scandal)
On 21st May 1971, Rustom calls SBI Bank Manager Ved Prakash Malhotra and convinces him to release Rs 60 Lakhs in cash for an important mission as asked by the then prime minister Indira Gandhi. In his later confession, Nagarwala stated that he described it as a “matter of great national importance” Just imagine how simple was that.
