“You are never too old to follow your dreams.”
At least that’s what super moms – Rashmi Koppar, Dr. Saumya Goyal & Nidhi Tiwari – believe in. It was a childhood dream for all three of them which was hidden deep inside their hearts. But these ladies broke the monotony and conventions of life and did something extraordinary that it will be remembered for generations to come.
Yes, they covered 21,477 Kms travelling through 17 countries in a single car (no backup) in less than 100 days. Shocked? Surprised?
Don’t worry let’s take you through their journey.
The journey started in June and came a full circle in October, crossing India, Myanmar, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Finland, Czech Republic, Germany and the United Kingdom.
Nidhi, who specializes in outdoor education, off-the-road weeping, long-distance and some other adventure activities, conceptualized the entire trip and roped her friends for the expedition. In fact, she was also the only driver in the team but that did not deter their hopes to embark on this journey.
Through this trip, they wanted to tell all the women in this world that such expeditions are possible and that there was nothing to be scared of. “We avoided driving late at night, instead, spent evenings exploring the cities. In fact, we didn’t find a single woman driving on the highway till we reached Europe,” said Dr. Goyal.
They drove 600 Kms daily. The first thing the trio did as they entered a new country was to buy a sim card. “However, we couldn’t book accommodations in advance as our schedule kept changing,” added Dr. Goyal.
It was only in India and England they could use The English language to interact with people. In the remaining 15 countries, they either used sign language or took help of Google Translator.
The journey which started in the month of June from New Delhi culminated in London on October 29. What a journey!!
We salute the women power. You ladies clearly set an example on how to break conventions & look beyond boundaries. An Inspiration for everyone.
